For those of us with very little income available, it is useful to take a step back to assess the bare minimum that we require in our smartphones and other electronic equipment.
Do we need something that plays games and displays hd video, or can we be satisfied with something that merely connects to the internet reliably, and performs other basic functions well. The Micromax Bolt A27 is an example of just such a compromise.
Using Andoid v@.3.5 Gingerbread as an operating sytem, with a 0.3 megapixel camera, and 3.5 inch touchscreen, the Micromax Bolt A27 is certainly not a modern mobile device. However, for some people, it might be just what they need. Although lacking many modern amenities, the Micromax Bolt A27 is expandable with dual SIM card slots, wifi, and expandable storage up to 16GB. The Micromax Bolt A27 also includes a built in FM Radio. The primary reason to buy this phone however, is the price, at Rs. 3397, The Bolt is entirely affordable for most households.
The negatives of the Micromax Bolt A27 are self explanatory. It has only 160 MB of internal memory, abd only 256 MB of RAM, and an adequate 1 GHZ processor. This phone is not for gamers, is not for high definition video, and really is not suitable for any high intensity aplpications. It is also not compatible with 3G networks. But, it is cheap, and it is a smartphone, and you could do worse.
